Shannon Rae Lindsey is an interdisciplinary visual artist whose practice spans installation, sculpture, and drawing. Lindsey received her MFA in Studio Art from the University of South Carolina and her BFA in Fine Arts from the University of South Florida.
She has exhibited nationally with thirteen solo exhibitions and over thirty-five group exhibitions. Her recent solo exhibition, CONSTRUCT::CONNECT, was presented at the Terrace Gallery, hosted by the City of Orlando and Snap! Orlando, and curated by Patrick Kahn. Notably, she received the prestigious South Carolina 701 CCA Prize in 2014 for emerging contemporary artists. She was invited to curate the 2024 and 2025 South Arts Southern Prize and State Fellows traveling exhibition which celebrates the highest quality artistic work being created in the American South.
Lindsey currently serves as an Associate Lecturer and Director of the UCF Art Gallery in the School of Visual Arts and Design at the University of Central Florida. In 2023, she was honored with the university’s Teaching Incentive Program Award for her excellence in education and her contributions to academic advancement.
For five years, Lindsey held the role of Vice President of Finance for Foundations in Art: Theory and Education (FATE), a national non-profit dedicated to supporting excellence in college-level studio and art history foundations. Through her roles as artist, educator, and gallery director, she fosters a dynamic learning environment that empowers students to explore contemporary art practices while cultivating their own creative identities and professional pathways within and beyond the classroom.
